About Nairobi Singles
Nairobi Singles is a dating platform built for people in Nairobi — and increasingly, across Kenya — who want to meet someone real. Not a feed to scroll, not a game to win: a straightforward way to find people who are actually looking for the same kind of connection you are, whether that's something serious, something casual, or simply new people worth getting to know.
Why we built this
Too many dating apps optimise for endless swiping instead of real connections, and treat safety as an afterthought bolted on after launch. We built Nairobi Singles the other way around: matching is mutual and deliberate, messaging only unlocks once two people have both liked each other, and the safety tools — blocking, reporting, and a real moderation team behind them — were part of the product from day one, not a feature we added later under pressure.
What makes us different
- Genuine profiles. Real names, real photos, honest intentions — not anonymous browsing or fake accounts.
- Consent-respecting messaging. No unsolicited messages land in your inbox — chat only opens once you've both liked each other.
- Enforcement that actually works. A block ends contact immediately, in both directions, enforced at the database level — not just hidden in the app's interface.
- A real moderation team. Every report reaches a human, and action taken is logged, not silent.
- Built for Kenya. Neighbourhood-level location across Nairobi and towns countrywide, and local payment via M-Pesa — built around how people here actually connect and pay, not adapted from somewhere else.
Where we're headed
Nairobi Singles is early — a genuinely growing community, not a finished product. We'd rather be straightforward about that than pretend otherwise. We're building deliberately: safety and trust first, features second.
